Fur In My Paint

Featuring Paintings by Animals!

Welcome

Welcome to FurInMyPaint.com, the companion site to the Fur In My Paint series of books.  This site provides information about Enrichment.  Fur In My Paint seeks to support animal facilities in their endeavor to care for those animals that must live in captivity.

Stop by The Canvas (coming soon) to learn more about enrichment, its aims, procedures, and hear fun stories from facilities as they implement enrichment programs!

Any facility that participates in the Fur In My Paint books can be found on the “Contact a Facility” page.  Here, you can see what animals whose paintings have appeared in the books, as well as how to directly contact their home facility.  You can even use this page to find a participating facility in your area.

You can join our site for free!  Everyone is invited to join and will automatically begin receiving free e-mail updates about the Fur In My Paint series as well as fun topics about animals painting.  Professionals and students will automatically receive use of the Enrichment Forum, a place where individuals can discuss new ideas for enrichment as well as find answers to obstacles they may encounter in the course of implementing an enrichment program.  Just go to the “Stop by and Say ‘Hi!’” page and enter your name and e-mail address.

You can also stop by the Store to purchase a copy of one of the Fur In My Paint books.  Coming soon, you will also be able to purchase selected paintings from a few of the facilities.  Many facilities sell their paintings locally and through auctions, so please feel free to contact the facility directly if you are looking for a painting by a specific animal.

Finally, you can contact the author, Tifane Grayce, directly using the “Stop by and Say ‘Hi!’” page.    We love to hear your comments and suggestions.

"Tifane Grayce gives us a look at some really unique art as she explores the work f artists from around the world!  Imagine yourself strolling through a gallery of modern art and being taken by the wild, bright colors, undulating shapes and feather-like textures that only masters can achieve.  Masters?  Well, these are masters of a different kind - or shall I say - species...

"Fur In My Paint explores wild animals who create art - from scorpions to beaded lizards, macaws to elephants, and sea lions to gorillas!  A brilliant activity for any animal in any animal park or conservation center, painting stimulates the animals and acts as an importatn 'enrichment' activity.  Not only do the animals produce some really nice art, but it's valuable for conservation fund-fraising!"

“Water Colors” – Coming Soon!

I am excited to invite those interested into a world of colorful enrichment; a world where animals paint and spend beneficial time breaking the day up into activities of excitement.  This sequel to Fur In My Paint is going to show a variety of paintings by aquatic animals at facilities across the country!

Water Colors, just like Fur In My Paint, is a full color, hard cover, high gloss, coffee table book that spotlights the painters, and their paintings. Our goal is to highlight, in a positive manner, the immense value of these programs, the beauty of the work being produced and the individual animals themselves.  This in return will raise awareness of such programs around the nation and in turn help raise money for the enrichment programs.

In addition, this continuation will not only investigate the enrichment process, but will also include  more in-depth look at the species painting.  Each species has its own form, behavior, and social structure.  Water Colors will discuss these unique details and how they make painting an appropriate enrichment activity for the species.

“Knowing the benefit of animal behavioral enrichment to captive wildlife, “Fur In My Paint” brings this engaging activity to life for readers of all ages. Through these works of the wild ones and their caregivers, Tifane Grayce has designed a superb table top book which to our knowledge is the first of its kind. It is an honor to know and work with Tifane who gives 110% to every task or project. If you enjoy animals this book is for you!”

Now Partnering with C.O.O.L. Crafts from Kenya!

C.O.O.L. Crafts started as an idea – how to support small-scale Kenyan crafters market craftwork that can earn them a decent living and become a sustainable business venture, while also benefiting conservation projects.
Many talented artists live adjacent to wildlife areas, thus this project focuses on developing new and original ideas with the theme of wildlife and coexistence.

The business was initiated by Mary Wykstra, the then manager of Cheetah Conservation Fund-Kenya.  Mary brought onboard several other wildlife researchers who studied otters, owls and lions, hence the acronym C.O.O.L., for cheetahs, otters, owls and lions.  The researchers have projects throughout Kenya that involve local communities or individuals in crafts making.  They decided to start this business to buy and market crafts from Kenyan craftsmen and women, thus supporting local communities.  Sales profits benefit conservation research, community development and
education initiatives.

Today, C.O.O.L. Crafts helps to support 12 vendors who offer a diverse array of uniquely Kenyan crafts.  All of our vendors can attest to the positive role wildlife conservation can have in uplifting local livelihoods.  We invite you to support our ‘crafts for conservation.’

Grayceful Productions is currently working with C.O.O.L. Crafts to expand their market to United States wildlife facilities, thus increasing the amount of revenue available for these wonderful goals!  Watch for more information as details are finalized...the products will be here soon!
